What is ODYS?: Ohio Department of Youth Services is the juvenile corrections system for the state of Ohio. DYS is statutorily mandated to confine felony offenders, ages 10 to 21, who have been adjudicated and committed by one of Ohio’s 88 county juvenile courts.

1. What is my term of my probation?: The term of probation is individualized and tied to the completion of your specific terms and conditions of Probation. Probation may extend to your 21st birthday.

2. Is there a cost for Probation services?: Yes, there may be a cost associated with Probation if ordered by the Court. The Probation Fee is $50.00 and must be paid within (120) days from the date placed on Probation.

3. What are graduated sanctions?: A graduated sanction is a tool utilized by probation to help eliminate or correct delinquent behavior.

4. What services does the Probation Department offer?: The Probation department offers the following services Non-Reporting Probation (monitored time), Community-Based Probation and Intensive Probation. The Probation Department also services as the coordinator for the following treatment dockets Education Court, Treatment Court, ASAP, and Reentry.

5. How often do I have to check in with my Probation Officer?: Checking in with your Probation Officer is an individualized term and condition of your Probation based on risk and need of the student.
