1. When can unruly complaint can be filed against a juvenile?

When the juvenile does not submit to the reasonable control of his/her parents, teachers, guardian, or custodian.
Is habitually truant from home or school.
Behaves in a manner as to injure or endanger his/her health or morals of him/herself or others.

2. Who can file an unruly complaint against a juvenile?

A parent, guardian, teacher, or an Intake Officer from the Court.

3. How do I file an unruly complaint?

Individuals may file an unruly complaint through the Court’s Intake Department. An Intake Officer can assist with this process.

4. When will the child go to Court?

Once an unruly complaint is filed, a hearing shall be set as soon as possible.

5. Will the child go to Detention?

It is highly unlikely that the child will go to Detention. An unruly charge is considered a status offense.

6. What are the possible outcomes of an unruly offense?

The Court may order counseling, community service, or refer to one of the many programs at the Court which are designed to assist the youth and/or parents.
